PUBLIC NOTICE: GAUTENG IN SEARCH OF 73 MISSING HOUSING BENEFICIARIES

The Gauteng Department of Housing and Local Government is calling upon community members in Soweto to urgently assist in tracking 73 missing beneficiaries whose housing subsidies have been approved in Naledi. The targeted beneficiaries were registered residents of Camp 1,2 and 3 informal settlements, when feasibility studies were conducted in 2002. The missing beneficiaries will be given a period of 14 working days to come forward. Read more

Tshwane's building plan boom

The City of Tshwane took the lead in recording the highest value for building plans passed for 2008 in Gauteng, Statistics SA said recently. Tshwane contributed 39.6% to the total of R32 828 6m reported for Gauteng, followed by Ekurhuleni metropolitan municipality with 30.o% and the city of Johannesburg with 16.8%. The value of recorded building plans passed by the larger municipalities in South Africa for 2008 amounted to R79 474 8m. Read more

Former councilor arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe

In a joint sting operation between the Department of Local Government and Housing's Anti-Fraud Unit and the National Crime Intelligence, a former councilor was arrested on Sunday for allegedly soliciting a bribe.
