Gauteng Housing inducts new Evaton Development Forum

The Gauteng Department of Housing held an induction workshop for newly elected members of the Evaton development Forum. The new EDF was elected into office at the EDF Annual general meeting held in Benoni early this month.

The EDF among others is aimed at coordinating and monitoring of various development initiatives, facilitate and fast track the process of development and integration and to build cooperation amongst various sectors of the Evaton community.

The chairperson of the EDF Lord Mc Camel said the purpose of the workshop was to clarify the role of the EDF and that of other stakeholders such as councilors and Community Development Workers. "We all came to a clear understanding of each others roles and a firm link has been established with all interest parties. The cob web has been removed" said Mr. Mc Camel. He added that there is no doubt that the Evaton renewal project will be successful. After the workshop, the Chairperson expects to have good relations with all role players.

In closing, the Gauteng housing MEC Ms. Nomvula Mokonyane urged all parties involved in the Evaton Renewal Project to use the information they gathered from the induction to their advantage and serve the Community of Evaton with the quality it deserve.

The EDF also has the powers to initiate projects that would be beneficial to the development of Evaton community, to influence and recommend the implementation of business plans and to inform the communities about the job opportunities or business prospects and future development plans for Evaton.
