Gauteng is dealing with fraudulent allocation of housing subsidies

The Gauteng Provincial Government acknowledges the report issued by the Auditor General, however at no point the AG is saying that its officials from the Housing Department, in fact the report talks about government employees across the public sector that benefited through illegal ways by manipulating the system and presenting incorrect information and facts regarding their status when applied for government housing subsidy.

The report highlights areas that the Department of Housing has been aware of and already measures to deal with the problems were put in place and in this regard through our Anti-Corruption Unit we have investigated such cases and processes to deal with corrective measures are being implemented.

The Gauteng Provincial Government is very much committed in dealing with any acts of corruption and or maladministration hence we now have one integrated Housing Subsidy System which is being continuously enhance to deal with any gaps or deficiencies identified.

We looking forward to work with the Auditor General to correct the situation and deal with those implicated in the report. We wish to call upon all those that have benefited knowingly very well that it's inappropriate and their actions are fraudulent to come forward and present themselves before we institute legal processes.
