DISASTER MANAGEMENT

The role of this programme is to ensure the provision of integrated disaster management in the province through the Provincial Disaster Management Centre. The programme also coordinates the implantation of the Provincial Disaster Management Plan and it ensures that Fire Brigade Services standards are maintained.

The Programme carries out its functions through two sub-programmes which are:

•  Disaster Management and Fire Brigade Services

•  Disaster Management Strategic Support Services

Programme Strategic Objectives

•  To ensure the provision of integrated efficient and effective disaster management system by 2009

•  To co-ordinate the implementations of the Provincial Disaster Management plan.

•  To upgrade standards and level of Fire Brigade Services

•  To ensure effective disaster risk reduction and management strategies with the key focus on Gautrain and 2010 World Cup
