POLICY

The Programme is responsible for the development of policies, initiate research, corporate governance within municipalities and support municipal integrated development planning.

The Programme carries out its work through three sub-programmes which are:

•  Policy and Research

•  Integrated Development Planning

•  Governance and Intergovernmental Relations

Programme Strategic Objectives

•  Strengthening of the research and policy function of the Department, by initiating and developing policy research that contributes towards municipal learning and performance.

•  Facilitate and coordinate processes towards ensuring that MIDP's are credible, implementation and align to national and provincial policies, plans and strategies.

•  Strengthen co-operatives governance and accountability at municipal level.

•  Strengthen co-operative governance at municipal level with Traditional Leaders.
