MEC Mokonyane Visit Bekkersdal

The Gauteng MEC for Housing, Nomvula Mokonyane, will visit sites in Bekkersdal to monitor progress on the following projects:

Information Hub: A facility where the community can lodge queries, complaints and access information. The construction of the Information Hub will be completed by 15 September 2004.

Taxi Rank and CBD, which is in need of management of informal hawkers and vending facilities.

The Transit camp: The transit camp came about as a necessity to clear out emergency vehicle routes within the informal settlement. This is to allow easy access for emergency vehicles.

Sanitary Programme, which is part of the DPLG Water & Sanitation programme aimed at eradicating the bucket system in Bekkersdal. 3750 toilets have been already been approved

As part of her visit to Bekkersdal, the MEC will also be handing over 2500 Title Deeds to beneficiaries.
