12 November 2009 Patricia Gumbi scoops prestigious woman contractor of the year award
Gumbi, a former assistant nurse and now owner of Patricia G's Women in Construction was crowned during the GMHA awards recently held at Sunnyside Hotel in Parktown. Gumbi's accomplishments are not an exaggeration given her experience. She is well renowned for having operated under difficult conditions and conditions that could have forced any contractor, let alone a female one, to reconsider their involvement in this challenging construction industry. Despite being confronted by angry beneficiaries demanding delivery of their house, she has managed to remain resolute and she never lost her passion, dedication and drive. "The Gauteng Department of Local Government and Housing wishes to congratulate Patricia on her achievements to date. Good luck in your future projects, we are honoured and delighted to have you as a beneficiary of our incubator programme" commented the acting HOD, Mr. Mongezi Mnyani.
