29 March 2007 National Minister of Housing Lindiwe Sisulu and Gauteng Housing MEC Nomvula Mokonyane will officially hand over a special home to disabled 18 year old Refilwe Makau in Alexandra. Makau who was born without legs has been struggling to find a suitable place to stay. The Department of Housing and a number of sponsors came together to build her a house. The department aims to use Refilwe's sponsored case to create awareness about the plight of the disabled, how special homes for the disabled are catered for by the Department of Housing, and how the additional subsidy for disabled beneficiary needs can be accessed.
