

Gauteng Premier, Housing MEC hand over houses and title deeds 24 February 2006 Gauteng Premier Mbazima Shilowa, the Housing MEC Nomvula Mokonyane and the Johannesburg Executive Mayor Amos Masondo will on Saturday, 25 February 2006, hand over 520 letters of occupation to beneficiaries of Phase one in Kliptown. A total of 500 low-cost houses have been built to date in Phase one with the remaining 136 units to be completed by March 2006. To date 446 units have been handed over to the approved beneficiaries. From 446 units handed over, 24 were handed over to beneficiaries older than 65 years and two are almost 80 years of age. Later in the afternoon, the MEC Mokonyane will hold a report back meeting with the residents of Protea South. There are about 6000 families in the area. On Monday, 27 February 2006, Mokonyane and Lesedi Executive Mayor Busi Modisakeng will hand over 1000 title deeds to beneficiaries in Heidelberg extension 23 Sports Ground. The event will coincide with the official opening of the clinic in the area.
